Sam and Jennifer are one of those couples you can’t help but fall in love with when you meet them. With their endless humour and adorable little moments of tenderness, it is clear that they have a wonderful future together. Photographing their big day in Northampton was a wonderful adventure and an explosion of positive energy!
Something that really pleasantly susprised me during our first consultation was a moment when Jennifer and Sam, when asked about special photo requests, said in one voice: ‘People, not things’. During my years as a wedding photographer, I’ve heard so many special requests being all about the Jimmy Choos, about the flowers, cake, jewellery and elaborate food (one bride even prioritised the photos of the buffet over those of her family!) that it was very refreshing to be asked to only focus on people and emotions on the day… It’s quite sad that the wedding industry these days has reached a point where everyone feels like the whole point of a wedding is in the amount of impressive ‘stuff’, but meeting this couple, whose priorities were so in line with my own, and to whom priceless memories meant captured special moments over anything else, was a wonderful thing. I still managed to get some detail shots, but only during the break, when it wouldn’t have meant that I would miss something important.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was definitely the big announcement that the couple had kept a secret from their guests to be able to see their faces when they tell them. Having waited for the perfect moment, Sam shared with their nearest and dearest that Jennifer is expecting… And they weren’t disappointed with the reactions they got!
