Well, this was a FIRST! And unexpected twist turned this proposal into something I’ve never seen before in all of my years as a professional secret proposal photographer in London!
But let me start from the beginning.
Pranjal got in touch earlier this year as he was planning an elaborate romantic London proposal treasure hunt for his high school sweetheart, Saniya. He had meticulously mapped out a 3 hour-long route around the city for her to follow, based on clues, all connected to meaningful spots and moments of their long-distance relationship. The culmination of this wonderful adventure was wonderfully romantic: a proposal at St. Pancras Station, right next to The Meeting Place statue – a beautiful symbol of lovers separated and reunited once more. That is where I was hiding in plain sight, ready to capture this special moment. At the exact time we had planned, a very happy Pranjal and Saniya appeared at the station, him gently guiding his beloved to just in front of the statue.
He went down on one knee and produced the most adorable engraved wooden box with a ring in it and popped the question.
A delighted Saniya said yes!..
But then something happened that even I, with my years of experience in proposal photography, couldn’t have possibly predicted.
Once the lovebirds exchanged a celebratory hug, Saniya gave Pranjal a mischievous smile and reached out into her purse… to unveil her own proposal ring to Pranjal! That’s right – the woman of his dreams was about to propose too! Talk about meant to be!
I adore stories like that. Every proposal I photograph has the most unique and romantic story attached to it, and capturing those is a joy every single time!
And after the proposal, we had a little bit of time to get outside of the station for a quick couple of engagement shots!
